The Cincinnati Bengals are a professional American football team based in Cincinnati, Ohio. Currently, they are members of the North Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL). In 1968, they played their first season as a franchise of American Football League, but they joined the NFL as part of the AFL-NFL merger in 1970, which had actually been agreed in 1966.
Historical Franchise:
In 1967, led by Paul Brown, a group of owners of Cincinnati has been granted a concession in the American Football League. Brown had an outstanding career as founder and head coach of the Cleveland Browns from 1946 to 1962. He has successfully led his team to win a .759 percentage and seven championships, which includes four championships earned while a member of the All-America Football Conference. Brown has earned the reputation of being a recognized innovator for his approach to training, game planning, and the passing game. However majority stake in the team was sold to Business Art Modell by Brown in 1961. Modell fired Brown January 9, 1963.
During the 1980s, the Bengals have managed to reach the Super Bowl twice. But they lost to the 49ers in San Francisco in both cases. Paul Brown died shortly after appearing in the playoffs in 1990. He already transferred control to his son, Mike Brown. Shortly after his death, the Bengals' fortunes changed for the worse is that the team post 14 consecutive seasons of not winning.
In 2003, under head coach Marvin Lewis, the Bengals began to emerge from this period dark in a new era of increased consistency. Carson Palmer, the future star quarterback, was drafted in 2003. The Ickey Shuffle
The "Ickey Shuffle" is a dance party created by Bengals running back Ickey Woods in his rookie season of 1988, during the Bengals' Super Bowl run. It is the most widely recognized contribution to the team.
No Huddle offense
All teams used a common N-Huddle offense when the time in the game has been weak. However, the offense of high rate was the standard mode for the ball club regardless of the time remaining for
Sat Wyche, the Bengals' head coach in 1988, with the coordinator Bruce Coslet offensive.
West Coast Offense / Paul Brown's Offense
The West Coast Offense, is the popular name for the high percentage passing scheme designed by Paul Brown and Bill Walsh. It is commonly used by many teams. During the Bengals' Super Bowl run initial Ken Anderson used this scheme play.
Paul Brown Stadium
Mike Brown, the current owner of the Cincinnati Bengals, the name of the new stadium after the NFL Hall of Fame father, Paul Brown. He successfully resist offers to sell the naming rights for the stadium
The 2006-07 season
Marvin and his staff developed a theme to rally around as in previous years. This time, the pyramid (a list of qualities developed by the success of former coach John Wooden UCLA basketball). Very few free-agent acquisitions have been made by the Bengals in the offseason. Also a large number of players drafted (Or new to the team) were not positioned at the input is considered a sign of an established team in place one in the middle of reconstruction.
